Beachfarm’s Tweed Valley Farmhost Program

In addition to our 13 years of providing farmstay accommodation at Beachfarm, we are now in the fourth year of co-ordinating Farm Host programs for International Students.

The Farm Host program is ideal for International Agriculture Students who want to experience life on an Australian Farm. Students stay on the participating farms in pairs (2 boys or 2 girls) and have the opportunity to experience farm life by being “part of the family” and participating in the daily work on the farm and other family activities.

The Farm Host program is also suitable for other International Students (non-agricultural), who are interested in a “country experience” as part of their stay in Australia. Pairs of students are hosted on farms for the experience of rural living, and the opportunity to practice their English.

The average Farm Host stay is from 2 – 10 nights and caters for High School, College and University age students.

During the stay, it is usual for the teachers and other accompanying adults to stay at Beachfarm. We can drive the teachers and staff around the host farms in our minibus to visit the students during their stay.

Beachfarm has a large database of farmers in the beautiful Tweed Valley. We have access to the following types of farms for hosting students:

¨      Beef cattle farms

¨      Dairy cattle farms

¨      Banana Plantations

¨      Tropical Fruit farms – such as Avocados, Mangos, Custard Apples, Papayas, Macademia Nuts, Passionfruit

¨      Commercial Flower Farms

¨      A Variety of Horse Farms

¨      Subtropical Vegetable Farms

¨      Tea and Coffee Plantations

¨      Different Types of Nurseries

¨      Modern organic hot house vegetable farms

¨      Mixed Farms

Enquiries are welcome from ITO’s, schools, colleges and universities, or individuals interested in bringing a group of international students to the Tweed Valley for a Farm Host Program.

No group is too small. We can place up to 70 students in our local farming community.
